In the event of an incident, businesses must keep a record of all events and take steps to reduce the risk of harm to affected individuals. They must also notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the persons affected in the event of a serious risk of harm.
Businesses must disclose to the Commission any verification or confirmation of identity carried out using biometric characteristics or measures.
The new rules govern the disclosure of personal information without the consent of the individual concerned in the course of commercial transactions or for the purposes of study, research or the production of statistics.
Companies must designate a person responsible for the protection of personal information and publish their contact information on their website.
